Norway in a nutshell

XI/2015

During our visit to Norway we took a legendary tour called "Norway in a nutshell", which we had previously read a lot about. Starting from Bergen, first we experienced the scenic Bergen Railway: the windows in the train were better than cinema screens, attracting our fullest attention and providing us with unbelievable landscape views. Then the bus took us through empty roads and beautiful scenery with clouds coming so low and rare houses standing out with their fuming pipes, which were probably the only signs of life in the North. After that we went on a fjord cruise on the magnificent Aurlandsfjord and on the narrow Nærøyfjord - which are two of the most picturesque fjords in the world. And all of this brought us to the highlight of the trip - the breathtaking 20 km-long Flåm Railway between Myrdal and Flåm - known as the most beautiful train journey in the world. It offers an amazing view of unique and magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. There was an uncontrolled choir of people in the train, who simultaneously rejoiced in the marvel when the train was coming out of the twisting tunnels that spiral in and out of the mountain. During the trip the train stops at the beautiful Kjosfossen waterfall, which was partly frozen by the time we arrived - it was an amazing experience!
